MASTER MINDS
The Series

The development of Joey Havlock’s Master Minds presents a vivid glimpse of surrealism.

The Master Minds Series is an intersection of reality where dreams dissolve into lucid states of consciousness.  Phantoms emerge from deep corners of the psyche to expose shards of their core to the light; feeding on the radiance for just a breath before retreating back to the shadows of inception.  To witness each fragment of time is to be instigated, excited, enchanted… subdued.

The brilliance of the Master Minds series is the artist’s willingness to delve into the mind, piercing the shadows and embracing the expansiveness of imagination to capture moments of thought, memory, desire, and reflection.  Extending an invitation to the observer; be witness to the surrealism that exists within each of us at every moment. Those lightening strike images and impulses that dart through our awareness purposefully, and unrelentingly, only to be swept away as quickly as they appear are made manifest in prismatic splendor.

Please visit our SHOP to pursue the available works from this series; available in stunning, state of the art, aluminum metal prints, as well as well as gorgeous canvas editions.

About Metal Prints:

These metal prints are one of the most striking and durable ways I have ever presented my artwork. The creation of a Metal print uses a process called sublimation where a very special transfer paper is applied to a sheet of high gloss aluminum containing a polymer coating.

The paper is changed from a solid to a gas and fused directly into the surface of the aluminum. The image is not applied to the surface but actually fused INTO the surface of the aluminum. This creates an incredibly strong, durable, scratch resistant & waterproof print that will last a lifetime.

This printing process creates incredibly vibrant and luminous images that appear almost 3-dimensional. This fine art print does not require framing and comes with a pre-installed lightweight aluminum float mount system for effortless hanging. This hanging system makes the artwork appear to be floating off the wall. Because of this clean presentation and incredible durability, metal prints do not need framing or glass of any kind.

Brilliant luminescent image with incredible depth

Ultra hard, scratch resistant, waterproof surface can be easily cleaned with any glass cleaner

JOEY HAVLOCK

SHORT BIO

Born in Manassas, VA in 1967, Joey Havlock experienced a childhood that provided an optimal environment for the later development of his artistic expression. The sphere of creative and character diversity to which he was exposed has inspired many of his individual works as well as series such as his Liquid Geometry and the Master Minds. After arriving in New York City in early 1986, Havlock delved into the world of technology consulting, and systems development. As an artist he recognized modern technology to be as much a part of the creative process as the development of fine pigments and brushes thought by many to be conventional artist tools. Havlock’s technical expertise in tandem with his creative background provided the ideal combination for the phantasmagorical imagery that would later become the essence of his many styles. Inspired by artists such as Al Held, Rene Magritte, Mark Kostabi, Peter Halley, and Damian Loeb, Joey Havlock has spent more than 20 years in New York City exploring and developing his craft as an artist. Current series include The Master Minds, Cocks, Liquid Geometry, and Alchemic Anatomy to name a few.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Combining State of the Art Technology with State of the Art Human Dynamics. The visions I pursue are cutting edge, have immediate shock value and use simplistic geometric shape and form. My Creations are my children, they are my representations of moments and periods in time. Like songs, my works move me emotionally, spiritually and physically. ~~ My artworks provide me personal reward and acknowledgement of my growth and evolvement as a socially interactive being, and best of all they provide a vehicle for collaborative interaction with society. Many of my latest works use resources I have spent years investigating. Combining state of the art technologies and conventional artist media’s to produce my imagery. ~~ My favorite mentor artists include Al Held and Rene Magritte. Al Held has spent the better part of a lifetime pursuing geometric studies, color and form. Magritte spent a lifetime exploring the surrealistic sides to life and presenting his visions in simplistic object oriented form. I am also very influenced by such modern day artists as Mark Kostabi, Peter Halley and Damian Loeb.
